Don't Take Alcoholic Drinks on Mondays poster

During the First World War the British government became concerned about the consumption of alcohol, fearing war production was being hampered by drunkenness. The government introduced several measures; including promoting controlled drinking but also new taxes and controls on opening hours and advertisement.
