Princess Mary pouch
Zip up pouch inspired by the gift boxes sent to all those serving during the First World War in Christmas 1914. Designed by Imperial War Museums from the collections, it's made from a hardy weaved canvas and features the repeat pattern in glorious gold of the Princess Mary crest.
Princess Mary the only daughter of King George V, the reigning King during the First World War, performed charity work in support of servicemen and their families. One of her main projects became the Princess Mary Gift Fund.
The Gift Fund was initiated in October 1914 to provide a gift fund box to every serviceman at the front or at sea for their first Christmas in the War. Original Princess Mary gift fund boxes can be found on display at IWM London.
