Churchill Tommy Gun magnet

Fridge magnet featuring a picture of Winston Churchill inspecting a 'Tommy’ gun

This photograph was taken whilst Mr Churchill was visiting coastal defences near Hartlepool where he was given an explanation of the mechanism of the Thompson submachine gun.

The Thompson submachine gun or ‘Tommy Gun’ was popularly associated with mobsters of Prohibition Era America. The Nazis used this photograph and its gangster association to vilify Churchill.
