The 1914 Star, was awarded to men and officers of the British and Indian Expeditionary Forces, who served on the Western Front from the 5th of August 1914 to the 23rd of November 1914, the former date being Britain's declaration of war on the Central Powers and the latter date being the end of the First Battle of Ypres. In all, 378,000 1914 Stars were awarded.
