Relive the history of one of the most iconic aircraft of World War II with our Supermarine Spitfire Mark 1a model kit. This 1:48 scale replica is based on the legendary Spitfire N3200, which was built in 1939 and issued to No. 19 Squadron at RAF Duxford in April 1940. Piloted by Squadron Leader Geoffrey Stephenson during the Dunkirk evacuation, this aircraft embarked on its first and only mission during ‘Operation Dynamo’.
After sinking under the sand, the Spitfire was recovered in 1986, forty-five years later. Acquired by Dr. Thomas Kaplan and Simon Marsh in 2000, it underwent a full restoration and was donated to the Imperial War Museums in 2015. The Duke of Cambridge received it during a visit to Duxford, where he witnessed the Mark 1a fighter fly again after 75 years.
Produced by IWM Brand Licensing Partners (based on the N3200 on display at Duxford but without IWM branding on packaging), this model kit includes 146 high-quality elements. It comes with clear and intuitive instructions, featuring illustrations and step-by-step directions, making assembly straightforward for both novice and experienced modelers.
