Suffragettes Lapel Pin (First World War)

Epoxy resin pin badge with a green, white, and purple striped flag promoting 'Votes for Women' used by the Suffragettes in the early 1900s.

The Suffragette organisation, the Women's Social and Political Union was founded by Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughters in 1903. Until the outbreak of war in 1914 the WSPU campaigned to 'wake up the nation' to the cause of women's suffrage to win 'votes for women'.
